Which compression bra after which breast surgery?

A guide by PD Dr. med. Mathias Tremp, specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

After breast surgery, the right compression bra supports healing: it reduces swelling, stabilises the surgical result and gives you confidence in everyday life. Which model is right depends mainly on the type of procedure. This overview helps you choose.

Important: which bra you wear, from when and for how long is always decided by your surgeon. If in doubt, please ask before purchasing.

PI Perfect or PI Special?

Both models have seamless, shaping cups, a front zip and straps adjustable to four positions. The PI Special has a high cotton content (57%) and is available in band sizes up to 100 – pleasant for sensitive skin. The PI Perfect is also available in beige and is less visible under light clothing.

For men

After correction of enlarged male breasts (gynaecomastia), the MTmL Comfort compression vest is suitable.

Finding the right size

Compression garments only work if they fit properly: close-fitting, but without cutting in. Measure your underbust circumference for the band size. The cup size depends on the expected size after surgery – if in doubt, we are happy to advise you personally.
